Experience 300 Years of
Saida's Greatest Heritage
Celebrating 300 Years
Inside the old streets of Saida and its souks lies an Ottoman Palace dating back to the 18th century, presenting all the aspects of Damascene architecture. This palace; built in 1721; was turned into a Museum in 2001, and has been listed on the heritage and historical sites list in 1968.
Debbané Palace Museum is considered among the most beautiful heritage landmarks in Lebanon.
The Debbané Foundation
To safeguard the future of the family home, the families of Georges, Jean, François and Marie Debbané-Naggear; the descendants of Raphaël Youssef Debbané, have relinquished their rights to the property and in 1999 set up a Foundation.
The Debbané Palace Museum
In 1999, Debbané Family decided to turn the Palace into a Museum. To preserve the landmark, a specialised committee was created, made of 4 members, each representing a branch of the family, in addition to the General Heritage Director and the president of Saida’s Municipality.
