Restoration of the Palace
From 1978 until 1983, during the Lebanese Civil War, the palace was occupied by refugees, causing damage to the décor and the architecture.
At the beginning of the 2000s, the Debbané Foundation carried out an important restoration program to preserve the palace’s historical and artistic heritage, and studies and research were initiated in order to prepare it to be a museum.
At the occasion of the Unesco seminar in Saïda in 2001, the palace finally opened its doors to visitors as a museum.
Contribute to the Debbané Foundation
The renovation of a palace of this kind has undoubtedly contribute to the preservation of the historical heritage of old Saïda and continued to do so.
The Debbané family donated the palace to the Foundation with a mission to protect, preserve and maintain it in its original beautiful architectural state.
The family has financed entirely the restoration works through the Debbané Foundation. We welcome donations to support the Foundation in perfecting the continuous efforts to preserve this beautiful palace as it holds a prominent place in the Lebanese heritage.
